Standalone Connection Guide - Windows XP
- Click on the "Start" button and select "Control Panel". (Note: For XP classic mode, click on "Start", "Settings", "Control Panel")
- Click on "Network and Internet connections" (Note: For classic mode, click "Network connections".
- Click on "Network Connections".
- Click on "Create a New connection".
- Click "Next".
- Select "Connect to the Internet".
- Click "Next".
- Select "Setup my connection manually".
- Click "Next".
- Select "Connect using a broadband connection that requires a user name and password".
- Click "Next".
- Enter "Primus" as the ISP Name.
- Click "Next".
- Enter your fully qualified username (user@magma.ca, user@biz1m.primustel.ca, user@dsl.ca etc..)
- Enter your password in the "Password" and "Confirm password" fields.
- Ensure the box for "Turn on Internet connection firewall
for this connection" is checked.
WARNING: If you have Windows XP Service Pack 2, you will not see this box as the firewall will be enabled automatically for you. Please skip to step 17. - Click "Next".
- Select "Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop" to place a shortcut on your desktop.
- Click "Finish".
- Click "Connect" to connect.
