What is Sftp
Sftp stands for Secure File Transfer Protocol. Sftp is a FTP-like client that can be used for transferring files over the Internet. Sftp is a part of the Secure Shell suite of programs.
Why use Sftp?
Sftp is a secure replacement for FTP. FTP openly sends ASCII characters over the
Internet. This means that malicious individuals on the Internet can look for new FTP
connections, and "snoop" your connection to obtain your account information. Unlike
regular FTP, Sftp uses SSH to encrypt the connection between your computer and your
website preventing individuals from obtaining your information. Sftp can be used to
upload your web pages to Magma's hosting servers.
